Private schools shut their doors amid mounting financial problems

Private schools across Cambodia are struggling to stay afloat amid a seemingly endless school closure following the February 20 COVID-19 community outbreak. Many private schools, especially primary schools and provincial schools, have been forced to completely close down operations due to the severe financial crisis caused by the pandemic.

Nearly one-third of returning migrants have no income: UN report

Due to job losses, economic restrictions and lockdowns in their host countries, about 200,000 Cambodian migrant workers have repatriated since the beginning of the pandemic in early 2020. Now, nearly 30 percent of their households have no income at all, according to a recent UN report, and more than 50 percent of these returned workers are indebted.
