About 50 families in Phnom Penh protested in front of the Phnom Penh City Hall after coming to know about the issuance of land titles to Eco Megapolis Development Cooperation Co Ltd which overlapped their land. The villagers, around 40 of them from Prek Kampoes commune in Dangkor district, feared being evicted from their present land following the new development on the title.

About 50 civil society groups and unions called for the release of human rights activist Koet Saray, president of Khmer Student Intelligent League Association (KSILA), who has been placed in pre-trial detention.

Demand for Schools for Autistic Children Rises Amid Acute Shortage of Trained Teachers, Resources

Children with autism have risen to more than 20,000 in Cambodia, said Chan Sarin, principal of Takhmao Special Education High School in Kandal province, who quoted figures from an April 2, 2019 research. This high number is attributed to a heightened awareness and understanding of the condition among parents and caregivers.

Residents Near Angkor Wat Continue to Struggle with Apsara Restrictions

Map, a 35-year-old whose family has lived about 20 kilometers from Angkor Wat for generations, doesn’t want her two children to have to walk a dirt path to use the outdoor toilet behind their home. But authorities told her family they will remove the half-meter wide cement path that Map’s family recently built, saying they did not have permission to build it.

Some 200 Canal 94 Residents Submit Petition to Land Management Ministry, Seek Own Land Titles

About 200 residents from Kandal Steung district and Takhmao town submitted a petition to Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction Minister Say Sam Al on Monday, urging the government to cut up a piece of land from the Techo Takhmao International Airport project for them, issue land titles and allow them to build on-site.
