Takeo Farmers Begrudge $1 Per Square Meter Land Compensation by Phnom Penh Airport Developer

Nearly 100 farmers in Bati district whose land had been earmarked for the development of the $1.5 billion Techo Takhmao International Airport project are appealing to the new government for a solution for the loss of livelihood after canals were dug up by tycoon Pung Khiev Se’s Overseas Cambodia Investment Corporation (OCIC). They claim that seeking solutions from the local authorities for the issue, which has prolonged for two years now, are ineffective.

Four People Seeking Legal Advice Arrested at Licadho Office, But Banteay Meanchey Police Denies

Human rights NGO Licadho claimed that six police officers arrested four people who were in their office in Banteay Meanchey province on Wednesday afternoon to seek legal counsel for their imprisoned relative, political activist Kong Saron. However, the police denied the arrest, stating that they were there to “invite” them to the station to “receive humanitarian assistance”, and that the individuals have since returned home.

‘Return Our Sacred Mountain’ – Punong Natives in Mondulkiri Continue Four-Year Fight For Land Sold Illegally

Radang is a sacred mountain located within the Punong indigenous community land in Pou Lung village in Senmonorom district’s Romnea commune in Mondulkiri province. The villagers have always celebrated the mountain by making offerings to the spirits, an activity that has long prevailed.

Siem Reap Court Questions Two More Villagers Over APSARA Authority’s Lawsuit

Another two villagers were allowed to return after being questioned on Tuesday by the Siem Reap provincial court following a lawsuit by APSARA authority on villagers, accused of inciting others to commit felony and obstruct public work.

Cabinet Rejects New NagaWorld Worker Petition in Two-Year-Long Dispute

Cabinet officials rejected a new petition brought by former NagaWorld employees Thursday, stating that the petition did not meet administrative requirements. Protesters were hopeful that Prime Minister Hun Manet and his new government might solve the dispute that has dragged on for nearly two years.
