Collective of 73 rights groups rejects NagaWorld layoff plan

A wide assortment of workers’ rights and civil society organizations issued a joint statement Thursday rejecting the ongoing mass layoff of NagaWorld employees and labelling the downsizing as a clear attempt to bust the casino company’s union.

An auction of machinery seized by the government from two shuttered factories to compensate workers has been delayed, with the lone interested buyer refusing to deposit 10 percent of the reserve price to secure the goods.
