Kandal police chief faces disciplinary action over corruption allegations

Interior Minister Sar Kheng is poised to take disciplinary action against Kandal provincial police chief Eav Chamroeun over accusations of wide-ranging corruption, according to a letter seen by reporters. Major General Chamroeun was the target of a complaint signed by members of the provincial police force on April 19 alleging diverting election funds, appropriating cars seized from criminal suspects and taking bribes in return for promotions.

Three Pursat officials charged with corruption

A Pursat provincial land management director and his two subordinates were charged in the Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Wednesday for taking bribes to issue construction permits. Kuch Kimlong, spokesman of the municipal court, confirmed that prosecutors charged the department’s director, Liem Bunroeun; deputy Cheang Vuthy; and department official Te Buntheng with misappropriation of public funds.
