A chief monk from a pagoda in Kampong Cham province who was defrocked on September 2 but restored to his position two days later, was charged by Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Wednesday reportedly for violating measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

A recently defrocked chief monk from a pagoda in Kampong Cham province was restored to his position August 4 after he was cleared of allegations of violating measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

A pagoda’s chief monk in Kampong Cham province was defrocked on Thursday and brought by authorities to the capital for questioning on allegations related to the obstruction of measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
