Some 1,000 workers of Chinese-owned Y&W Garment in Phnom Penh continue to block the road in protest, demanding that the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training pay “repair of damage” on top of compensation, seeing that the owner ran away.

Farmers Demand For Release of Water as Shortages Damage Dry Rice Fields

At least 760,000 hectares of dryland rice are planted in a few provinces, however, there is currently a scarcity of water to irrigate their fields, which is worrying farmers as they could fall deeper into debt.

Amid falling breastfeeding rates in Cambodia, garment workers are pushing for nurseries and community kindergarten to be set up near their factory. This is in light of reports that breastfeeding promotes maternal and infant health, and higher productivity.

NGO Asks Parents To Encourage Children To Talk About Online Sexual Abuse, Exploitation

Parents play a very important role in preventing online abuse, according to Dutch group Terre des Hommes Netherlands (TdH NL), which launched a campaign last year to raise awareness on online safety. It urged parents to pay more attention to children’s activities online, discuss safety issues, and encourage them to seek support if they encounter online abuse.

Victims of Kandal River Bank Collapse Get Land But Promise To Build Houses Still Unfulfilled

Seventy two families in Kandal province’s Rokar Khpos commune, who are living temporarily on private land in Prek Thei village, have asked the provincial authorities to build their houses as promised. They also want the authorities to supply water and electricity as there is none at the moment.

Prek Takong Villagers Fear Losing Land Following Expiration Of A Land Lease Contract

Twenty five families in Prek Takong 1 village of Chak Angreleu commune are concerned about losing their plots of land, which were rented out to the Meanchey district authority to build a temporary sewage canal. However, the six-month tenancy agreement beginning March 2023 has expired and the authorities have yet to return the land to them.

Dozens of workers, union and civil society representatives, and relatives gathered in front of Chea Vichea’s statue on Monday to commemorate the union leader’s passing 20 years ago near the Langka Pagoda in 2004. The event, which took place not far from where Vichea was assassinated, saw Buddhist monks conduct a prayer.

“I Have Seen Injustice” – Two Years Gone, NagaWorld Strikers Soldier On To Regain What Was Taken From Them

For over two years now, NagaWorld strikers have been struggling to attain justice in their long-drawn labor dispute. But, their advocacy work in that time has only been met with injustice, including trumped-up criminal charges, arrests, violence, and harassment against women strikers. Despite this, they patiently wait for the light at the end of the tunnel.

Alleged Sangke River Polluter, Chinese-owned Phoenix Operating Again in Battambang

Phoenix, a pharmaceutical company based in Battambang province, which released wastewater into Sangke River last August, has not yet complied with an order by the Ministry of Environment to relocate and restore the environment surrounding the river. It started operating again earlier in December.
