As lenders enjoy profits, more than 100 civil society groups call for government action to suspend loan repayments for stressed borrowers

On Tuesday, 103 non-governmental organizations, farmer communities, associations and worker unions publicly called on the government to direct financial institutions to suspend all loan repayments and interest accrual for at least three months, saying that loan restructure is not enough.

Civil society groups and human rights non-governmental organizations knew in 2019 that it would be the last time International Human Rights Days would be a holiday, after the government did away with five national holidays to increase annual work days.
