Hun Sen backs oldest son to be the next country’s leader

Prime Minister Hun Sen has publicly announced his support for his eldest son, Hun Manet, as his potential successor as prime minister. He claimed the announcement came in response to critics who have long accused him of paving the way for his son to take over as Cambodia’s next leader.

As Prime Minister Hun Sen urged out-of-court settlements for land disputes during a Monday address on the grounds of the Ministry of Land Management, a crowd of about 100 families waited outside hoping to beseech the country’s top leader for help in disputes of their own.

The Cambodian government on Sunday began its campaign to vaccinate children aged 12 to 17, beginning in Phnom Penh, while the prime minister announced they would soon start a program to provide a third “booster” dose of AstraZeneca to adults who have already been fully vaccinated with the Chinese Sinopharm or Sinovac vaccines.
