Prominent Vietnamese Activist Detained at Phnom Penh Airport

A prominent Vietnamese activist and blogger has been detained at an immigration facility near Phnom Penh International Airport since Feb. 3, accused of using a fake passport while transiting to the U.S., his sister said. A Cambodian civil aviation official confirmed the detention.

CMAC Demining Work Boosted by Chinese Aid Amid U.S. Freeze, Civil Society Surveys Impact to Inform U.S. Government

The Chinese government granted $4.4 million to support Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC)’s mine clearance work amid the suspension of U.S. aid, however, the funds cannot cover all halted projects, leaving many deminers in financial hardship. While civil society groups warn of broader impacts, they are surveying the effects which will be compiled and submitted in a letter to the U.S. government.
