EU announces $124M grant to improve Cambodian fisheries

EU Ambassador George Edgar

The European Union (EU) and Cambodian government on Wednesday jointly announced a $124-million, five-year grant to improve the country’s fisheries sector. The new aid project comes amid the EU’s review of duty-free trade with Cambodia over political and human rights concerns. Prime Minister Hun Sen’s ruling Cambodian People’s Party won all 125 seats in last year’s national election after the main opposition party was banned from contesting the vote.
