Cambodians report scams in online shopping experiences

In Cambodia, online shopping – typically on smartphones and tablets – is becoming increasingly popular due to its convenience. However, this presents significant issues for less technologically savvy buyers, who may be more vulnerable to scams, especially when shopping on social media.

2.8 million Cambodians were living under the poverty line in 2020

As workers began heading out for lunch in central Phnom Penh last week, a grey-haired cyclo driver smiled and waved, hoping to entice a fare. As had been the case nearly every other day that week, Choy Pech, 78, had failed to find a single passenger though he had been out since early morning.
