Hun Manet Eyes Business Opportunities In France During First Official Visit

Prime Minister Hun Manet met with President Emmanuel Macron Thursday at the Élysée Palace on the first day of his official visit to France, where he emphasized possibilities for economic collaboration between the two countries. The visit comes at the end of a week-long trip to Europe, his first as Prime Minister, which also included meetings with French business leaders and a stop in Switzerland for the annual World Economic Forum.

Street sellers struggle with unpredictable market closures

Months after Phnom Penh’s citywide lockdown was lifted, market vendors said they have yet to return to their pre-lockdown income. And as Cambodia begins tightening restrictions once more to keep the new Delta Covid-19 variant in check, some say they fear what will come next.

Rising gasoline price adds burden for those already struggling from pandemic fallout

Ministry of Commerce figures show the current retail price is 4,100 riel per liter of regular gasoline and​ 3,650 riel for diesel. The ministry does not include premium, or super, fuel prices but at petrol stations it is averaging about 4,600 riel per liter. For the first two weeks of June, by comparison, gasoline sold at 3,800 riel, and diesel sold at 3,450 riel.
