Reduce Use of Luxury Wood Furniture To Save The Forest and Livelihoods

Reducing the use of luxury furniture and rare woods can help protect the environment and conserve Cambodia's forests, as it’s often said. But many people are not focused on using recycled furniture products, raw materials or artificial wood, possibly due to the lack of encouragement and awareness.

Environmental Activists Align with Government, Launch New Mother Nature NGO

A former member of the prominent environmental group Mother Nature apologized to the government, denounced his former organization and announced he would start a new NGO with the same name in a video on February 28.

Indigenous Community Banned From Farming Over Unclear Zoning in Areng Valley

Preav Hun cultivated bananas and mangos in the Areng valley of the Cardamom mountains for more than 25 years, but for the past six months Ministry of Environment officials have banned him and his indigenous Chorng neighbors from farming as the government rezones the protected area.

Mekong fishing communities in Cambodia are facing a double crisis: illegal fishing practices and the construction of upstream dams have dramatically reduced fish populations, leaving fisherfolk struggling to make a living. Many say fish farming, touted as an alternative, is a difficult transition due to lack of support and knowledge.

Nearly One Million Hectares of Protected Conservation Area Now Eligible for Privatization
